20 Works by Laura Arellano
Laura’s reception coincided with what seemed like the entire lower state of California burning in all directions. My prayers go out to all those affected and all those waiting in the evacuation zones. Two of Anuvue’s resident artists, Cathy (fused glass) and Jim (Photography) along with Jamie (our teacher and my dear friend) and Susan (our intern) were all directly affected and thankfully all safe at this writing.
40 brave souls ventured out amongst dark, dry skies and unbreathable air to support this generous, lovely woman. I could not be more proud of them and their dedication.
I thought I would share Laura’s work first and then follow up with the reception after I developed them.

Good work! I like the compositions and the bold colors.
The portrait is wonderful too..the appearance of finished and unfinished, spells mystery for me. I love the freeness of it.
Is it a self portrait?

Ps My thoughts are with all of you during the fires. I am in Florida, and we’ve had our share of such.

Hi Gypsy-heart. I know the portrait isn’t Laura. I’ll have to ask her who it is. The hands at the top are attached to her very lovely daughter 😉
I hope the vividness of colors come through. i use a color controlled mac but when I see these on my PC…whew…they’re dark!
Thank you for the kind words from one coast to the other. Looks like we made it through another one 😉

My thoughts are with you all, too. It’s becoming too common, each year, yes? Scary.
Ah, but the work shown here is such a breath of fresh air. I love the close ups of the flowers and shells. The waves of color seem to breathe on the page. 40 is not a bad showing considering what was going on. Good job.
