Monkeys on the pier!

The month of August is designated free movie night at pierside. They bring in a giant blow up screen and project a different movie each Thursday at dark. Tonight’s feature was The Wizard of OZ and there were lots of folks down there enjoying the old classic right along with their kids. I have always hated the monkey scene and tonight was no exception. Those things used to scare the heck outta me. I saw one little girl who reminded me…well…of me.

Joseph asks me why I don’t like the Wizard of Oz. I was forced to watch it MANY times as a little girl (one TV and several siblings that wanted to watch). My response. It was frightening to me. Especially the monkey scene. I hated that part of the movie. Not to mention the trees and the witch with her crystal ball. Though I do have to admit the one part I do like (I found out after we got a color TV, yes I am aging myself!) was when she comes out of her house and everything is in color.
