OMG

While I was working on some photos, I happened to turn the Tele on for background noise. I swear I’m never more dumbfounded by what passes for entertainment. Tonight I actually stopped to say OMG!!! It was some game show (I think Family Feud?) and while color correcting… I was mindlessly answering the questions under my breath. I heard one question called out “name one food that you should eat at least 5 servings a day but may not like“. I SWEAR someone said CHEESE!!!!  I looked up at the screen horrified thinking surely the American  public would know about grains, greens, fruits and such. Both sides got it wrong and both sides were obesely overweight. The next question was to name a rock band from the 60’s. I swear to GOD someone said “Kiss”…then someone said “Aerosmith”…and it took 2 more wrongs before someone even mentioned the Beatles for GOD sake. I had totally given up on any hope of the Stones. I turned the Tele back off when I heard “Sonny and Cher“….

Am I still on Earth? Did cheese become a necessary food staple?…if so…let me know when Haagen-Dazs chocolate ice cream becomes mandatory for great digestion…

by the year 2035 I’m sure it wil be.

  2. I saw that episode of Family Feud, and your memory is just a bit foggier than mine. As I recall, Team A hit the buzzer first and said Aerosmith, getting an X. Then Team B won the opening question by saying The Beatles. That team, who should have passed and not played, eventually got hits with The Monkees and The Beach Boys, but got three strikes with Kiss, Sonny And Cher, and Three Dog Night. Team A stole the game with The Rolling Stones. The remaining answers were The Who and The Beach Boys. I had called out four of the five bands’ names myself, but never guessed The Monkess would have made this top five list, never mind their placement at number three! (What about The Kinks and The Doors?)

and what about the Animals, Jan and Dean, Jerry Lewis and the Playboys, The Temtations, The O’Jays, Marvin Gay, BB king, The Miracles… Don’t forget tiny Tim.

  3. I stand corrected. Thank you Reverend Flash for your amazing recall.
In my defense, I was only participating through “indirect noise” but I am relieved to hear the Stones finally made the list after I turned it off. I have never considered the Monkees noise to be “music”…although Michael Nesmith went on to do great things in the music industry. agree…what about the Kinks and the Doors!!! Is it all about cheese?
I’m sticking to House MD….that’s my kinda Tele.
