Anuvue welcomes Halloween

Well, good grief…I just looked at my calendar and October’s Halloween show is only days away. By next Saturday, all the art is due to go up on the walls (Hint Hint everyone) and in the jewelry cases. No doubt I will waste many hours… just standing there oogling everything.

This year, I will be toning down my routine, in hopes of letting the Artists shine and hopefully catch my pocketbook up with my spending. (Starting a gallery didn’t come cheap). I’m building a small set that will fit in the center of the room (where the movable walls usually stand) based on the theme “Day of the Dead” and the “can’t wait to see” art will hang on the surrounding walls.

I made some costumes with the help of a very mean, grudge holding glue gun and a very old, squeaky Brother sewing contraption. I think it’s still mad about the Scary Clown “red leatherette” tent top a few years back. Funny thing about that machine, the last time I used it,  I could actually “see” to thread the needle. This year it was quite comical. Thank God Jamie had left behind some very old granny glasses…and more thankfully… no one saw me in them… finally getting the dang needle threaded. To tell the truth, I kept looking outside to see if anyone was passing so I could ask them for help! Wouldn’t that have been an interesting conversation…

Tomorrow stands to be a busy day…for I’m usually miles ahead at this junction. But I’ll make it and I’ll be searching again this year for that shy kid that gets to become anything they want to…just for one day…the one who inspires my reason and true love for Halloween.

Now go forth and get your kids ready! or your dogs…if you must 😉

Dog Beach

Oh yes, we have one…this is California after all…

Let me start by saying I own cats…or rather am owned by them. It’s not that I don’t wish I had a dog…but the cats…well, they won’t have it.

I went down to the beach by my house. I do apologise to you folks that are in snow right now…but someone has to live here…and I assure you, you don’t want to make my house payment 😉 So, as I was saying, I took my beloved 5D down to see what was happening down town. The wind was up and the ocean was rough so naturally the windsurfers were out and I stopped to get some shots…yes, they’re coming… do try to be patient.

Anyway, Dog Beach is just up the street and while I’ve ridden my cruiser by it on the bike trail many a time…and driven by it going down Pacific Coast Highway…(of course you have to rubber neck and look over the cliffs so it’s best you aren’t the actual driver)…I don’t think I’ve ever “participated”. Let me explain.

There is apparently some “Inner Ham” quality to a dog that sees a large black camera. It was evident in the many times I was “ran down”. Oh I don’t mean chased…I mean literally knocked over…into the sand. I have one shot where the last thing I saw was a giant black nose before my lens (and I) went down. I pat myself on the back because I did get the shot…you just wouldn’t have the slightest idea what you were seeing if I didn’t clue you in… Yeah and don’t think for a minute one of those shots is here…

Dog Beach is a place where dogs can really “let loose” so to speak. They frolic through the water, they smell each others derrieres, they bark, dig, chase balls and do all those things that doggies do. Dog Beach is also a place where people meet…and I met some nice ones…although they referred to me as “Dog Paparazzi” and I’m not sure how the cats would feel about that.

As a side note, the sun kept coming and going…as did the golden light…and I did my best to get some dogs actually in focus as they jiggled and wiggled around me. Some dogs are preparing to go to the beach and some have landed…

Anyway, release the hounds!
