Terrifically Haunted fun for all. Another Halloween under our belts. Big thanks to Nicole and Julie for helping save the day. To Scott and Josh, candy professionals with nerves of steel. To Steve and Mitch for your hands on help. To Jim for fantasitc photo attention and being brave around both the young and old. Most important, to Micheal, whom without his patience and hard work, Halloween would never be.

This was the first preview night for “Frightening Fashion Show”. I think there were as many adults (possibly more) than children. I took pics with my iphone when I wasn’t giving my annual speech about “what’s inside my head”. Most people want to know…Ha! I usually just tell people that I’m the love child of Erma Bombeck and Alfred Hitchcock. Gosh I love my camera heads…

Anza Borrego

We took the Mangie Wrangie out for some sight seeing at Anza Borrego in search of wildflowers and were not let down. We’ve had a bit more rain this year, so they’re coming up rather nicely, stretching their colorful blooms to reach the bright sunshine. I did get a little carried away with the 4 wheeling and hardly took any shots of the flowers… but oooh, what fun. I drove over a small river, chomped up and over some gnarly boulders, stirred up dust and sand…and zipped by some slow-moving vehicles stuck on the level 2 trail. All those inferior Honda’s, Toyota’s and Mazda’s were left eating my dust. This was level 3. The power of the big red jeep a-coming with me yelling yeeehawwww out of the open windows, hair whipping my face and huge grin… well, they were left to bow down. Mike was either yelling or hanging on for dear life in the passenger seat after he gave me the wheels. But the other Jeepers (old and new) and a sprightly Land Rover were right there with me…all thumbs up. It was wonderful! I pulled over momentarily to take one shot. This is all ya get 😉

Last year my buddy Jimmy over at photo444.com came to the gallery and shot some of the visitors. He posted them on smugmug and each person could order their own copies for a very, very small fee. This year, everyone will be able to sit with an alien and I ask you, who wouldn’t love that! For now…check out these crazies…

Guess who’s coming to Halloween…

Treescapes Opening Night

We had a wonderful turn out for MaryBeth and her Treescapes show. I counted around 100 folks. She’s one popular gal! I developed as many photos as possible today before I realized I was actually asleep with my forehead flat on the keyboard! Truly… I haven’t seen that many attractive people in one room since my own family reunion! 😉 I am posting just a small portion of the 700 shots taken just to share with you some of the party.

Three of MaryBeth’s larger works inside the main gallery sold and I believe 3 smaller illustrations held in sleeves on easel. Fantastic supportive people. I’m so happy for her…and so very, very proud. And the crowd was a pleasure to meet.

Elleni did a beautiful job and played her heart out on that flute. Just beautiful… and her husband Mike was very good to make sure she had breaks and something to eat…and Jenny, oh Jenny! I’ve never seen so many people stuffing food in their mouths with a satisfied smile. The appetizer area was more popular than the beer and wine so I don’t have to say much more there! All in all, it was a terrific night and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Fantastic!

A special thanks to Susan, Jamie and Leo for minding the store while I snuck around with my camera. I have never seen such a pro in handling people and their credit cards as our beautiful Susan. Never gets flustered and even sherlock’s peoples names for me (behind the scenes) when I can’t remember. How cool is that?.

But my greatest pleasure was watching our own little family of artists talking and laughing together. Kweli, Yumi, Laura, Jenny, Jamie and our newest teacher Jonathan…you guys are great to come out and support MaryBeth and it means the world to both her and myself. Without further adieu…the show Saturday night

Young Rembrandts ;)

I came back from vacation to find Jamie all set up to have her class paint Christmas windows downstairs at all the local businesses. Each owner had decided it was a great idea and I thought it was brilliant!!! I only wished I had come dressed to be outside at night (a skirt and sandals)… but the kids were bundled up and they took off with smiles, determined to do well. Now, I’m not sure if you have ever painted windows before but it’s much harder than you think. Paint needs time to dry if you are going to overlap it…and if it’s at night…well…forget it. The kids had to pre-plan, and with Jamie’s guidance, they progressed very well. The last time she and I did Christmas windows we were 17 and we painted for Jack in the Box. It was tough! It’s hard to get tempera paints to look opaque enough to show up and still not crack off! Bradley, Ishika and McKenzie did a mighty fine job working together and it was fun just to watch them having fun. The pizza guys rewarded them with a large cheese pizza and when then owner asked Ishika (our youngest artist) whether she enjoyed the pizza or the painting better…she replied “the painting”…HA! That made my night!
